Hi all...
I am just finishing riveting the bottom skins on my wing and as I was temporarily putting the flap back on the hinge I wondered... "Boy, attaching the actuator to that end-plate is going to be a b****".
I read ahead on my fuselage plans that I just recieved with the new prepunch fuselage, and, much to my chagrin, DWG 80 references attaching the actuator to a flap part labeled "FL704L end rib" , where, there is a Nut Plate!!!
On drawing 14A, Part FL406B, THERE IS NO NUT PLATE!!!! and I cannot find any reference to a FL704 on DWG 14A. Needless to say, I have no nut plate installed on the flap on FL406B.

What am I missing? Please, someone tell me.

Thanks in advance

Flap Assy DWG 14B...

The part is shown on drawing 14B dated 2/06/02.

The side view (center left of the drawing) shows the platenut:

"K1000-4 platenut (use matched rod end bearing attach hole to help position FL-706B on FL-704, then after match drilling all FL-706B attach holes enlarge hole to 1/4." Platenut riveting callout states: "AN426AD3-3.5 platenut to FL-704 rivet (rivet before installing FL-706B)" for the aft platenut rivet and "AN426AD3-8 platenut to FL-704 to FL-706B rivet (machine countersink FL-706B" for the forward platenut rivet.

In other words, the hole for the rod end bearing attach (platenut center) is the aft hole on the FL-706B and matches to the lower center hole on the FL-704 end rib. Platenut mounts on the inside of the inboard end rib and the flush rivets must be different lengths due to the thickness of the FL-706B plate at the forward end of the platenut.

Hope this helps,

Mike

14B????

:confused:I don't have a 14B either, and wondered the same thing as I fitted the flap on my left wing.

Is there a complete list of drawings one should have?

OK...There has to be some clarification

Hi
Talked to Ken at Vans and he has emailed me a 14B drawing. Quite different from the 14A drawing, BUT, I am going to have to call him back for some clarification.
I think that this is a case of my wing kit being shipped BEFORE the new fuselage kit came out. The rib part numbers are different..(FL404, FL405 vs FL 704, FL705 etc) so I think that I am going to have to get a copy of the 'old' fuselage plans to see how the flap is attached to the push rod. (Or look at my small preplan set)
The thing I dont get is that the 14B drawing is dated 2/6/02!
The DWG 14A flap design is considerably different at the root attach point!

Any comments?
