I'm working on my wings and searching for a good and not so expensive heated pitot system. Any help would be appreciated, thanks,

Nick

You can frequently get Piper pitot tubes from aircraft salvage places (Air Salvage of Dallas for one) with working or broken heater elements. The last one I bought was about $40, and had never had elements installed. The element replacement kit is a little less than $200. This is a pretty cheap way to end up with a heated pitot tube if you need/want one.

Cessna Heated Pitot

I'm using a Cessna heated pitot from a salvage yard. Tens of thousands made for C-150, C-172 etc. Price is reasonable (but shop around) fits AN pitot mast.

One advantage of the newer stuff like the Dynon: It has an internal temperature sensor so you can turn it on, and, averaged over a flight, it will draw the current it needs based on the outside air temperature.

The older Piper/Cessna products draw full heater current whenever they're on.
