I'm attempting to fit my cowl next week. I read on a thread somewhere that you can avoid using the actual propeller by bolting on the spinner back plate with some spare bolts and PVC pipe cut to length to act as a stand-off. So I acquired the bolts, PVC and measured my prop from the rear side of the mounting flange to the rear side of the spinner flange. I got 3.15". Its a difficult measurement. so I wanted to poll the VAF crowd and see what others measured in this area that used the Hartzell CS prop (blended airfoil).

Obviously, this measurement is only used for 2 of the 6 bolts since the other four have a nut flange exposed by 0.14" requiring a slightly shorter piece of PVC pipe.
Here is a picture of my set-up. Thanks for your advice. -Brad

How about some instructions ?

I find the instructions always help! Read these and be sure you use the CS dimensions. The earliest instructions all referred to 2.25 which is TOOO big for the CS prop. 2 1/8 is the right dimension for the CS.

Check this out and you should have all you need.
