Do I have to take the intake tube off to install that fitting?

Yes, I did take off my intake tube. (I have the same M1B/Raven combo). Removing the tube was easier than expected also.

I got my half Raven installed. I did have to remove the intake tube and did ruin one seal by pushing the tube in too far.
I was interested in what crankcase oil level the standpipe was at so I left the fitting loose as I added oil. It took about 3 1/2 quarts Before it reached the standpipe and oil came out the fitting

This is the reservoir view. The AN842-12 tube to pipe elbows most commonly used are currently unavailable. I used these swept flare to tube hoses. Raven thinks it’s OK but I might benefit from moving the reservoir up a bit. I liked it because I can take the lines off at the flare fitting to inspect for water goo. DanH suggests the line from the engine to the reservoir be insulated to keep water from condensing in it.

BTW. The stock NAPA breather elbow was swollen and disintegrating after 2 years of operation.

I hope you post test results. I've been considering adding this to mine. Curious if it works as expected.

Did the same negative G routine with and without the half-Raven. Without lost about 1/4 qt and had puddles of oil. With it installed no measurable loss and no evidence of oil on the outside of the plane.
