GPS updates for 796/696
In the first year of owning the Garmin 796, I opted to purchase the US
database bundle for the unit. I'm not inclined to do that again this year.
With the advent of Garmin Pilot on my iPad, there is a lot of duplicate info
available. There are several Database update options available. The major
differance is the Nav Data from Jeppesen and or from AeroNav Products.
The Jeppesen information is considerably more expensive. Anyone care
to comment on the cons (mainly) on just installing the AeroNav Data which
Garmin shows as US VFR Navigation. My 796 is panel mounted and I use
it as the primary navigation source and it is wired to my AFS efis and
TruTrak A/P.
