G3xperts et al,
A buddy stopped by the hangar yesterday and looked over my FWF. He mentioned that the Garmin G3X GPS antennas are powered and they should be separated to prevent interference with each other. Has anyone placed the antennas close together and if so how do they work? I'm trying to avoid building a new shelf......

Thanks
Bob

The antennas are powered to amplify the received signal and drive it down the cable. They do not radiate, only receive.

Interference with anything is possible, but I doubt you would experience an issue.

I would leave them as they are and see if you have any issues with signal dropout. If you do, you can temporarily remove one or the other and see if that solves the problem.

I have one WAAS antenna and one non-waas antenna in close proximity and have had no issues.

I have 2 G3X antennas along with an external GDL-39 GPS antenna on a shelf same location as you have and they work great there. However I did put my GTN-650 antenna on the cabin top as recommended in the install manual.
