I understand that the GNS430W only allows a single port to be configured to "Aviation" which is the format that the AFS-3500EE and the Trio autopilot want.
Problem is that every other box on the plane wants the same thing. I understand that I can drive multiple boxes with a single port, but that means if that port fails / wire breaks, or whatever, lots of things stop working.
There is another format in the GNS430W manual called "Aviation No Altitude" or AVTN NO ALT. It appears to be the same as the Aviation format, but with altitude removed.
Can anyone verify that:
1) In a 430 you can have one port configured to "Aviation" and another to "Aviation No Altitude"
2) Will the AFS-3500 be happy with AVTN NO ALT?
3) Will the Trio be happy with AVTN NO ALT?
