Yesterday I met an aviation insurance investigator and learned something very interesting about using an AirGizmo dock to hold your GPS in your panel.

If you performed your W&B with your x96 GPS installed and you have an accident where your plane will be totaled, the insurance company will claim your GPS.

If the GPS is secured on a yoke mount, then they don't consider it part of the plane.

The odd part is the FAA does not consider an AirGizmo mounted GPS as a permanent installation.

To get around this, weigh your plane w/o the GPS installed and document that it was not included in the W&B.
