I'm New Here
Yesterday during annual the mechanic found small cracks at the back of
the attachment welds for the tubes that hold the gear to the back of
the motor mounts on our RV 6. This will need to be fixed in the
near future. The other welds holding the gear tubes are good. Are you
aware or this problem and a developed repair. Or do you have
suggestions as to whom we should talk about it.

Thanks..........Jeff

Yup, this is not uncommon and I've had to weld mine. There's been more than one tube design, not sure which one you have but I believe the tubes are now machined. The older ones have a tube within the outer tube which is fusion welded (weld with no filler rod) at the bottom.

Same happened to my 3. My welder asked me to put a small punch mark at the top and bottom of the crack to assist him in making sure he welded the whole length of the crack. Was able to do it with the engine on but the lighting was not good and it was awkward for the welder.
