I've seen several photos of completed RV-8's with significant mods to the gear towers including tons of holes for switches, 2" scat tubing, all the inboard webbing cut away and access plates installed.

Has anyone actually done any analysis? I'm sure VAN's would say don't but that could be influenced by liability concerns vice actual analysis.

One plane I saw had at least 15 extra holes cut into the tower side plates (aft side) to accommodate all manner of switching functions. I can't help but wonder what the longer term affects may be due to fatigue. While it may work for the first couple hundred cycles what happens down the road?

Just curious...
