completed the joining of the main gear legs to the WD 921 landing gear mount. I noticed the right gear mount socket was .004 inch diameter smaller than the coresponding 901A gear leg fitting at both the outer collar and inner "peg". The butt end of the leg was one inch away from mating with the top end of the gear leg socket. Had to hone alot of landing gear mount to get the butt end within 1/8 inch of the end then heat the bracket tube up to 450 degree Fso it slipped in place.
The left side required very little honing and the butt end of the gear leg was within 1/8 inch of the top end of the bracket tube from the start. Reading the forum this seems to be a quality control problem that sporadiclly occurred on the RV8. Before honing the left gear mount tube, the difference between the butt end of the gear mount and its coresponding portion of the tube was a difference of 0.002 inch. The collar areas were matched at 1.436 inch diameter.
