I am working on my gear leg fairings for my RV-7A. The farings trailing edge is factory cut and looks like a finished edge. However when the template in the plans is laid over the faring the faring appears to be about 3/8" wider (chord is longer) then the template. The instructions say "don't cut the trailing edge" during the early stages of assembly of the faring but further in the instructions it say "clean up the trailing edge".
I interpret "clean up" as sand straight, not cut off approximately 3/8".
It would be nice to get some clarification. Do you cut the faring to the chord width of the template?
Any help would be appreciated.
