My RV-7 has a G3X with two GDU 470's and a GMC 305 AP controller. The GMC 305 has no heading and altitude knobs. Without the GMC knobs, I've always found it very simple and intuitive to adjust the heading bug using the concentric knob on the bottom-right of the GDU 470.
I'd always flown with the left GDU 470 in full screen PFD. But I've recently started playing with split screen, compressing the PFD to the top half and displaying a map, chart, etc. on the lower half. In split screen mode, the concentric knob defaults to zoom & select functions for whatever is displayed on the lower portion of the screen.
Is there a way to adjust the heading bug with the GDU 470 PFD in split screen, with a GMC 305 that has no heading knob?
