Becuse Garmin codes their stuff to only work with Garmin stuff. Shoot, the newest Garmin revision terminates the link between the Garmin GPS's and the Aspen.

You would think that Garmin would sell a heck of a lot more of them if they would just communicate with all of the Apps out there. They could then use that extra revenue to make sure there pilot App is the best of the bunch and make more money.
