I bought a Van's gascolator and am using a an 816 nipple to penetrate the firewall. The threads on the nipple only screw into the gascolator about three turns and thusly leave a gap of about 3/8 of an inch between the gascolator and the nut on the nipple. This can't be right as it seems this gap would be prone to vibration and eventually loosen or break. If I shim or space the gap it would still only provide for a 3 or 4 thread penetration into the gascolator. I had the same problem with the brake cylinders and the an fittings but in that case I just tightened the daylights out of them as there was not a nut on the fitting, but with this fuel line I'm not willing to do that. Has anyone else had this problem and what do you reccommend? I am open to scrapping the gascolator idea completely but am unaware of any firewall side alternatives.Thanks. Jim.

Yeah that doesnt sound right Jim. Its possible they may not have run the NPT tap in deep enough. Here's another option.
