GPS update prices
Be ready.
Just went to do an update on my GPS 296 aviation database. The price is up to $49.95 for a SINGLE update. I think I'll just use it for orientation at that price and simply keep the VFR sectionals current at $8/apiece, needing only 1 or 2 for most of my flying.
With the trade in value of a GPS 296 now down to $500, much less the trade in price of a 196 now down to $200 (re Aircraft Spruce), $49.95 represents a large percent of what the unit is worth.
In a recession, I guess I'm missing the soundness of the business model here. Good luck Garmin.
