Has anyone been in my shoes before debating these two items? I'm inclined to go with the Garmin because the rest of the items beneath it will be garmin, I have the PAR100EX in my RV-4 and I'm not crazy about the intelligent squelch control that PS Engineering is proud of.

Are there any compelling reasons to choose one over the other?

Depending on how involved your usual co-pilot is, the "split comm" feature of the Garmin might be a big plus...

The PS box will do the split com, too. In either case you need antenna separation and/or good radios for it to work.

The Garmin has the 3D feature. I don't think the PS does. That feature is incredible from the demo I saw, but I've never flown with it.

I really like the Bluetooth on my PS8000BT. It pairs to my iPhone easily for listening to music and phone calls, and the kids love watching movies on the iPad in the backseat. No wires. Pretty sweet setup.
