Here's a question for any avionics gurus;

I'm trying to connect a Garmin 296 to display track info on my TruTrak ADI... I have the Garmin connector and it's already wired using the blue output wire on the plug; the TruTrak manual states that it needs an RS-232 input from the GPS.

I guess my confusion comes from the COM port selections in the 296 setup pages; nothing there actually states "RS-232 in/out"... the Garmin manual says to use the "NMEA In/NMEA Out" selection on the COM1 port to drive a radar or autopilot. Is this NMEA In/Out considered RS-232 data?

Thanks!

You probably want to use the NMEA In/Out mode. Also make sure the baud rate setting on the autopilot matches the baud rate displayed on the GPS.

good luck,
