Yes, My -7 was made to swing with a 1.5mm thick cardboard in-between. Vans might specify more.

I put spacers in between with a surface of sandpaper to increase the gap by sanding the correct areas. Then swing and sand. Add spacer and repeat until satisfied.

EDIT - stand by for correction. That is a bit tight.

1.5mm is less than 1/16". That's going to be pretty tight after paint.

Yeah, I might be wrong, that sounds a but small. It has been painted, I will recheck tomorrow and correct my post. Thanks.
