I've just wired my engine sensors and noticed the manifold pressure reads 29.4 static with the just the battery on. Shouldn't this be zero with the engine not turning? Haven't found a calibration instruction in the manual.

Fuel & oil pressure read Zero, oil temp reads 70, as it is in the garage.

What am I missing here?

It reads your current barometric pressure!

If you had a Kollsman altimeter, you would set the window to that number.

Get it?

If not, google the pelicans perch, manifold pressure sucks.

It will make total sense!

Everyone else is correct, that is ambient pressure (MP is barometric, not a relative vac/press - except in some rare boosted installations where we sometimes read a differential pressure in addition to plain MP).

No worries, keep having fun turning things on and lighting things up!

Cheers,
