I need some clarification on the outputs of the 496.

1. Does the power connector carry the audio for warnings and such?
2. Does that same large power plug output XM audio?
2.5. Is the 3.5mm jack XM audio only, or does it also output warnings?
3. Has anyone hooked up warnings on a one of the unswitched inputs of a PM3000?

The audio jack does both the warnings and the xm audio. I think the warnings will get stepped on by radio traffic if wired that way, though.

Yes - the audio jack has all the audio you want for aviation. The "audio" line on the power cord is, as far as anyone can tell, useless.

Go to "Menu," "Menu" and scroll down to the "Sound" panel. You have two options - "Headphones" or "Line Out" - "Headphones" generates a louder signal. You may also adjust the output volume.
