I am installing the latch pins on the door and it says to drill 5/16" holes on the firewall and the other bulkhead where the blocks go. I made the pins as according to plans and they just barely touch the firewall and bulkhead. So, I am thinking I'm not going to drill the big holes, just rely on the two nuts and bolts/screws that hold the Delrin blocks on.

Has anybody else had the same issue? Do I need to remake longer rods, errr pins so they go through the bulkhead? Thanks. Dave

Figured it out

I am just going to make new ones that are a bit longer. The ones I made are not quite 6 5/8" like they say, so they next ones will be slightly longer and that way they will go into the "metal" to help hold them down as per the plans. Thanks. Dave

If you make them too long, they won't retract far enough on the 90 degree key swing. If you don't make sure they clear the edge of the door opening, you'd have to trim the delrin blocks & the flange.
