Thanks, Mark! Went up flying yesterday to celebrate & managed to fly
through a swarm of bees while doing a touch & go. Plane was covered in bees
& bee guts. 8^)

420 hours the first year, 422 hours the second year. I also thought it
would have cooled down a little, but I guess not. Got a bunch of trips
planned this year.

Jen and I were "reminiscing" about the places we've been able to go in a
relatively short period of time. Minneapolis, Chicago, Boston, Bar Harbor,
Prince Edward Island, Portland, Copperstate, Grand Canyon, Dallas, New
Orleans, Punta Penasco, Yellowstone, Smiley Creek, and 4x to
Guadalajara...and a zillion trips all over CA. Love it!

My in-laws were in town last week, and I was yapping about airplanes with my
father in law. We were talking about new planes versus "mature" planes. He
considered mine a new plane. Calendar age-wise, maybe. But where does mine
fall? I consider it mature. This sucker has served me well and has paid me
back for all the hard work that went into it. To use the cliche, it's a
magic carpet. It has never let me down. Put gas & oil in, and GO!

And it's not just about travel. Today the tally is 265 hours in formation.
That has definitely been challenging and rewarding! The formation thing is
an extension of the "brotherhood" of builders and pilots, people who helped
and continue to help me. And I'm trying to give back. In these 2 years,
over 100 different people have ridden in my right seat, some several times.

I'm not trying to flaunt. I'm just excited! Building this plane
transformed the way I think about "flying." I knew things would change, but
I didn't realize just how much.

I see lots of new builders making incredibly fast progress on their
projects. If you want it badly enough, you will have it. Don't
blink...these guys will be flying off our wing soon!
