Step four says to "machine countersink the #30 and #30 holes in the left and right.....to fit the dimples in the firewall side.

I feel like I have had to go much deeper than recommended per the directions. Possibly because of the thicker material...? When I place the flanges on the firewall, there is still a gap and I can not get it to lay tight against the firewall. Visible space between the flange and firewall.

To me that looks about right. When those rivets are set they pull in a little bit tighter. As Vans says, if you are countersinking so parts lay flat, you are going too deep. A very small gap means your dimple and countersink are locked together.

Anyway, just my thoughts…
