I would like to fly my RV-14 IFR. I am from ND and ice can happen here even though it isn't forecast. I am concerned about the fuel vent icing over. Has anyone ever encountered this and has anyone ever modified the vent system to account for this? Maybe I am just paranoid but I really don't want the motor to quit!

Yep - here is my post on my fuel vent modification for the RV-8, RV-10 and RV-14. It is specifically designed to mitigate agains ice and mud dauber type blockage.

[RV8RIVETER]

You can also replace the stubs with small modified NACA style vents like the airbus use. Works well, much less prone to ice.
