As I install the vent line into my left tank, the question comes up about what everybody does to keep the nut from backing off once the tank is closed up. The fuel line itself has the service bulletin addressing the safety wire concern, but I don't see anything about the fuel vent line.

I was thinking about applying proseal all around the nut and fitting to seal and hold it in place. What do you guys think?

Good idea....

....and several builders I know did that to the fuel line fitting instead of safety wiring it. You can also Pro-seal your fresh air vent intakes to the fuselage...no rivets.

When I built the fuel tanks for my -4 I prosealed the vent and main fuel pickup nuts. ... this was before Van's issued the SB to safety wire them. I complied with the SB on one of my tanks....was pretty difficult to get the nut to break free....proseal really works. Didn't bother with the other tank.

Are we talking proseal on the threads, or proseal everywhere on the exterior of the nut / fitting after torquing?
