Tonight I was doing my fuel tank leak test on my second tank using the Van's test kit. I used the plug to plug the fuel pickup fitting, I put a balloon on the vent line fitting and I put the valve stem on the drain valve fitting. I then started to pump up the tank.

The results were disappointing. The balloon was not even moving. I could hear air going into the tank. But with the balloon not even moving I figured there must be a huge leak. I was also worried that maybe the vent line was plugged. If that was the case I needed to be careful not to explode the tank. I spent 15 minutes trying to figure out if the vent line was plugged or if there was a huge hole somewhere. It seemed like I should be able to hear the air coming out of such a big hole.

I was just about ready to get out the soapy water, when I realized that I had not put on the fuel cap...

After slapping myself in the forehead I had a good laugh.

Now that's funny!!! Hey, we've all been there. But you were really relieved when you realized that was the only problem.:)
