I'm New Here
Hey guys, we just started up a company in northeast PA at Skyhaven airport 76N. We are a full Avionics shop with JPI, Dynon and Garmin dealerships. We have an aircraft paint shop and full fabrication capabilities. As of now there are 3 of us working here with nearly 60 years combined experience in aircraft modifications, avionics and fabrication. I'm a pilot currently building a custom biplane, sorry no RV, but your aircraft is what brings my here. We are considering bringing on one or 2 welder, machinist, fabricators that have been involved in building aluminum auxiliary fuel tanks for over 20 years. We are wondering in there is any interest in the experimental market for custom auxiliary fuel tank fabrication and installation. Also, I've noticed many issues people have building the fuel tanks in RV's, or more so having problems with them leaking. Is there any interest in having them professionally built? We are currently looking at expanding our capabilities and wonder if the RV fleet is a market for us. Look forward to a discussion. Thanks for the interest.

You might find it worthwhile to buy one or more of the preview plans to see how these aircraft are built. There's very little welding on them and that comes pre-made at the factory.

Also, you might want to review the policy for the forum for advertisers. DR, the owner, likes advertisers.

Best of luck with the business! And welcome to VAF!

Thanks for the tip. Fully aware of the construction. Helped a friend build a -4 in the mid- late 90s. Then flew chase on his test flight. Flown several rv-4s that another buddy picks up and flips. If we do get into making tanks we will buy full sets of plans and we are well versed on riveted tanks. Will ck forum policies, thanks for the heads up!

Not to say that competition is not good but there are people who build tanks professionally (per Van's plans) already and one of the advertisers here does welded aluminum custom tanks for RVs that can be used for SMOKE or for FUEL.

See: http://www.smoke-system-helper.com/

My affiliation: Pushed for and purchased first large (7.5 gallon) tanks for Side by Side RVs. In my case an RV6, but works for RV7's and RV9's Also pushed for and purchased unit of specific dimensions for RV8 "deep well".

Ah, was not aware there was an outfit doing this already. Well like I said, just reaching out to to see what the feasibility is.
