Is it permissible to use a 90 degree fitting on the inlet side of the mechanical fuel pump?

This in on a Superior IO-360 (fuel injected).

I seem to recall that it wasn't accepted though I can't find any official documentation stating that. The RV-7 FWF plans show a straight fitting here (IO-360 plans). Interestingly though, the RV-8 plans show a 90 degree fitting (KB-090) for the IO-360 on the inlet side.

Thanks

Pump Fitting

It's best if you keep 90 degree fittings to a minimum on the suction side of the engine driven pump. If we were doing the install here we would use a straight fitting in the pump inlet and a full flow 90 degree fitting on the hose end. Probably if your really squeezed for space you could use the 90 fitting in the pump on a 360 Lycoming as there's only 16-18 GPH at full throttle. It's just one more little pressure drop in the system, they all add up.
