Just started working on my RV-9 again after a few months off and already spending way too much time on what should be a simple thing: I think the grommets for the fuselage entries for fuel and vent lines should go on the outer fuselage skin, not on the interior plate that is a few mm inside of the skin. I would think this would help keep moisture from getting in the space between these two pieces. However, pictures I have seen on this site show builders placing the grommets on the interior plate. Is there a reason for this? Will placing the grommets on the outside skin interfere with wing or fairing installation somehow?
