I am working on FWF on my 6A with O-320. I am using a Tee at the carb inlet and the end connection is getting close to the exhaust. At the first pass, my braided hose/connector is a bit over an inch from the exhaust and it seemed too close. i can put in a 45* elbow and get it to about 3".

I was wondering the general consensus on what distance is considered safe. I considered making a heat shield as well. The fuel line will have fire shield.

Thanks for your guidance here.

Larry, there is no minimum distance, but there are maximum temperatures. Your goal is to keep the fuel less than 130~140F ballpark. Don't settle for less than a maximum possible distance. If you can get 3" from a hot object by using another fitting, do it. If something else will move it out to 5", do that too.
