Yesterday I got my Registration renewal notice. I thought, it would be easier to just google "renew aircraft registration" and pick it there. Bad idea
Here is the first URL

Look for yourself. It seems official, even has a label of NEW at the top. It has a place for entering my/your security code which would give them access to the real FAA site. Where they could transfer my airplane or cancel my number.
And - - they want $65, not $5 for the same thing, even if it was honest.
I sent a complaint to the FAA via my local Legislative Representative. A friend got a letter wanting the same thing. I can only think they sucked his address from the publicly available information.
Let's just say I am not happy about this misuse of my information posted publicly, without my consent.
