Hi guys,
I'm helping my hangar mate get ready to convert from Fix Pitch prop to a C/S prop on is 0-360 A1A RV-6.
Sue at AeroSport is fixing us up with parts etc.
I read the older threads on the PCU5000 Prop Control and feel it is the one to go with.
In the Group Buy thread they was a picture of a flyer from a show and I think it was from American Propeller, but at the bottom it said
"Attention RV Builders-No more firewall dimple modification"
I understand this governor is smaller but my question is:
Will I - or do I - or Should I, still install the firewall recess behind the governor
if I'm using the PCU5000 unit???
Has anybody installed one after the fact like I'm doing??
or
Does it fit but hard to attach cables because of it being too close to the
firewall???
Thanks in advance.

clearance

I have a PCU 500X installed on my RV6. I do have a firewall recess but it looks like it will clear without a recess installed. I am not sure about clearance for removal and install.

Thanks

Thanks for the reply with good info.
I am still looking to hear from someone that has installed the PCU5000 without the firewall modification, wondering if it works ok?

Install the recess. You won't regret it.

The firewall recess was optional on the early -6s. I don't have one on mine and it makes changing an aircraft filter very difficult.
Bob, If you have the engine off, I would install the recess. It's easy to do and it will make life a lot easier.
