My 1999 RV6 has what is known as a "Hoerner" wing tip which used wingtip lens #W-415. Unfortunately, Vans (and apparently everyone) discontinued making/carrying replacement lenses a long time ago. FORTUNATELY, I found two discussions (see links below) about these lenses and the OP (Jerry) was able to find an airplane canopy maker willing to custom make a batch. I contacted Jerry who is very pleased with the set they made for him - and then contacted the company (Airplane Plastics) who indicated they have sold out of their initial batch but are willing to make another batch of 10 or more if they get enough interest (I think I am now the 5th on the waitlist).

So if you have the Hoerner wingtip style with these lenses - you may want to get in on the next batch - to either replace existing cracked or clouded lenses or have a spare set ready for when they do get cracked or clouded. Since the lenses are custom made and time-consuming to make so they are not cheap - but I believe the larger the batch he makes the lower the per set cost will be. I think they will be in the $250 - $350 per set range. With that said, if these guys stop doing custom batches (which they admit are a bit of a pain) the ony other option might be wingtip replacement - and I doubt any of us want to go there if we don't have to.

So if you are interested, please post a reply here AND call Jeff at Airplane Plastics (https://www.airplaneplastics.com/) - 937-669-2677
