I am wondering what has worked and is reasonably priced (ok, I can dream a little) padding that is firm enough to put in the footwell area under the carpet and what types of insulating foam used in the sides? Also the same question for the firewall.

Can those of you in hot climates comment on your experiences with the necessity of having firewall insulation to retard the engine heat.

I used 3/4" thick Super Soundproofing Sheet from ACS on the floor and 3/8" on the firewall and sides. Glue it on with goodly amounts of 3M 777 adhesive spray.
