I was looking at some older posts regarding the flap hinge. I did end up ordering the P-4 hinge because of the problem as others described.

My question is regarding the three rivets attaching the inboard end of the flap brace to the reinforcement plate/rear spar. I used the rivet calls as on the wing layout but am having a little interference with the flap and those universal rivet heads. The flap plans call for flush rivets there using dimples on the flap brace and countersinking the rear spar reinforcement plate to which it attaches for those three rivets.

I can?t get enough clearance to do that without removing the entire brace. It doesn?t move far enough out of the way without bending it to allow access. Does anyone think it will be a problem to countersink the flap brace for those three holes?

Thanks,
Bob
RV-8 wings almost done.

I was thinking the brace was too thin for that and called Van's. The simple solution is just bend the flange a little so it doesn't catch the rivet heads.

Felling a little dumb now.
