I bought some tank sealant from vans. I have used tank sealant before, many years ago. When I used it, the A part was light grey, the stuff from vans is tan, and doesn't smell as I remember. Is the tan color normal?

Light tan? Yes. I've never seen light grey.

It will turn more grey as you add the black part B component.
