my only comment is next time don?t let your fireman put the extinguisher down! They should be trained and have it in hand and pin pulled, ready to use immediatly in case! I?ve seen it in the usaf.
I was running engines on a C130 and #1engine blew the turbine apart and my ground man wasn?t even near the fire extinguisher. Thank god nothing started to burn, I was able to T handle the engine, which shuts off the fuel and luckily the engine was turning over enough to blow the tail pipe fire out. Safety wrote up my ground man then educated us what could have happened.
What would have happened if you had broke a fuel line, gas got on exhaust and the prop was blowing fire back into the cockpit. What good was the fire extinguisher? I spent 4 yrs on the flight line and saw a lot of things happen. Please be careful. I feel funny writing this, sounds like I am preaching, just saw something a little bit unsafe?
