Hey all, is this a critical error? When notching the HS404 nose rib to fit the reinforcement angles on the front spar of the horizontal stab, I ended up with the flange a bit smaller than intended. I need to drill 2 holes in the flange that is left (1 3/8" of flange available), and these holes go through the HS702 front spar into the flange of the HS405 rib behind it.

The directions specify to drill the holes 1/4" below and above the angles (shown here clecoed to the front spar). I am concerned that one of the holes will be too close to the edge of the flange. I've considered repositioning the holes by a fraction of an inch, but my concern is then for the spacing on the rib behind it. It does not appear critical to me, but then again, I've never built an airplane.

Update. Vans said no biggie. A slight relocation of the holes was recommended.

Lesson learned: read further ahead in the plans and see what comes after making an irreversible step such as this. Consider alternative ways of making the cut. Measure five or six times if need be.

Hope this maybe helps someone in the future.
