Looking to install a firewall blanke on my 8 would like to hear from anyone who has done this and what kind of material you used.

The first stuff I tried burned like crazy when I did a quick flamability test, so I discarded it. I eventually used the Thermozite Plus sold by Flightline Interiors. Details and video of burn test here, here, and here.

fire/smoke hazard?

Is the black closed cell vinyl nitrile (sp?) foam that Spruce and others sell (which apparantly is approved for use on aircraft) appropriate for use on the aft side of the firewall? In other words, will it smoke, smell, or burst into flame under normal operations? If it's an all out engine fire in flight, does it matter given the fact that RV's have fibreglass engine cowls?
