Is it necessary to bend the firewall or does the installation of the top skin and instrument panel support ribs cause it to bend? Seems like it would be under some spring-back if it is not bent before installing the top skin.

Either

I've seen it done both ways. I think it looks nicer with a bend, so that's what I did, but functionally I don't think it matters.

Any suggestions on a good method? I haven't riveted the firewall yet and thought about clamping a second piece of angle to the front to make the bend line.

Thanks,
Dave

Ditto

Exactly what I did. Worked fine, the bend line looks nice and straight. I used a piece of wood to apply the bend once the firewall was clamped between the angles. Don't push too hard, this stainless is quite soft and easy to overbend.

Good luck
