I don't know if it is that I am starting to learn something or my engine is now broke in, but I think that I achieved a good LOP setting this week-end.

Just a fun flight to get the oil warm and knock the dust off of me. So I was playing around with engine leaning and got the following to work without the engine stumbling.

OAT 45
ALT 1430
TAS 126 kts
MP 21.9
RPM 2310
GPH 6.8
CH 310 295 319 295
EGT 1385 1403 1388 1376

LOP 49

Alright, maybe there is hope for me. Next up when the sky is taller, go up high and do it again.

More to go!

Hi Kent,

I think you can do even better. My local cruising setting is

20.8 MP 2080 rpm

125-130 KTAS 5.0GPH

If you have a CS prop, crank the RPMs down and the effciency will go up.

You are lower than we are here, that has some effect. As you go higher, it gets even better.

Good luck, let me know if you have questions.

At what alt are those number for?

I'll try to duplicate them. I do have a CS prop.

2-5K

Kent,

Ground level is 1K here so anywhere from 2-5K. It seems to vary slightly with density altitude. Higher density alt give slightly better TAS.
