Would one of you fastback guys tell me the length of the canopy remaining after cutting? I have a new, tinted canopy with damage at the rear that I think is easily salvageable for a fastback that I'd like to offer up.
You cannot easily use a standard RV-4 canopy for a fastback conversion. The canopy profile and turtle deck profile are different. Especially the bulkhead that sit behind the aft crew station.
The rocket canopy is used because it is wider than the Vans and can be easily molded so the transition between the canopy and the turtle deck is smooth.
The canopy can be whatever length you want it to be. I chose to extend mine forward by 4 inches and lower it also by 4 inches.
