Quoting from elsewhere, with permission. Thought this was interesting...not sure if it will have any effect on experimental avionics that may use this stuff, iPad apps, etc... (Or at least, cost of those services that are far lower than Jepp. )

Just noticed this new notice on AeroNav's website:

"New Process: Next Editions will be available 1 Day prior to their effective date."

It only appears on the pages for sectionals, TACs & WACs:

NEW:Updated info:

Just got off the phone with AeroNav. All their on-line content will be shifting to 1-day availability over the next few months.

Content will be avail earlier, for those that "purchase an Enterprise License." How much? Cost will be based on the qty of end-users.

Usually 7-10 days. For VFR charts: Sometimes more. Sometimes less.

That's what I'm trying to figure out. The telephone call went from, "based on the
number of end-users" ... to ... submit all your questions in-writing.

What "Abby" told me:

- Early access (what has been "business as usual") will now cost money.

-Approval to redistribute will cost money, based on the number of users.

- There will be requirements for encryption of AeroNav content.

When I began asking clarifying questions, the only answer was, "submit your
questions in-writing."

Last minute chart release...

As an example, if many XYZ software users attempt to download charts in a short period of time, because they expire in < 24 hours situation, then I'd expect significant server delays from XYZ and some download failures.

This is not good...
