Not sure why you'd want to, but nonetheless, I think there might be some clearance issues on the forward cylinders. It's long enough to be trimmed to fit the firewall but the exit area is totally different.

If all you are after is the scoop (smiley) look, you can just buy that part and fit it to the RV-8 cowl. However if you want to do this, I think it would be less work to just build the part from scratch, but I've built glass airplanes before so I'm okay with the work and skills required to do this. I'm afraid the contour of the scoop won't match up to the relatively flat bottom of the RV-8 cowl.

Really, Mark will admit that his fiberglass parts are not up to the same standard as Van's. Yes, they work and they fit but they do take a lot more finese to get them looking great than the comparable part from Van's.

I don't mean to discourage you. If you really want to fit the F1 cowl to an RV-8, I'm sure it can be done with enough elbow grease and hammering.;)

F1 cowling on RV-8???

ok, i really like the look of the F1 cowling. I want to fit one on an -8 im building. aside from a little fiberglass work, i dont see the big deal. the cylinder clearance should be fine as the F1 cowling is made foe Lyc's big 6 cyl, but will probably be a little long for the same reason. has anybody done this.
