The instructions specifically say to NOT cut the 2 5/8" hole for the fresh air vent in the F815 floor rib until later when attaching the skin. Does anyone know why? It is going to be very difficult getting that whole assembly into my drill press so I can use my fly cutter! :) How did you cut that hole?

Thanks,

I believe the reason that Van?s has you wait on this is because the small prepunched hole in the skin is used to match up with the corresponding hole in the rib. These holes eventually become the center point for the big vent hole (right side only).

If I remember correctly, I cut the hole in the skin with a circle cutter in my drill press. The problem is that I also needed to cut the hole in the floor rib, which was mounted to the jig. So?I did what everyone tells you not to do ? use the circle cutter in a hand drill. I used my cordless drill on the slow gear. It made a nice hole and I had no problems. Just go slow, and hold the drill tight.
