Is there any reason to etch the metal if you are using a self etching primer? I use a two part epoxy, Sherwin Williams E2W932. The stuff sticks to anything and it is self etching. Just curious because I am doing the stuff that you can see at this point! I have not been etching anything on the wing or emp build however I am assembling the fuselage and am getting ready to do the final interior painting.

If you are using a self etching primer then there is usually no need to etch the metal. In my experience scuffing and cleaning the metal is always a good idea before applying any sort of primer.
