I have one probe that is very erratic (noisy) Is this a sign of impending failure or ?????

Hey Gary,

Look at the bright side, if you had your old EFIS system in there...everything would be erratic. ;)

Sorry, I couldn't resist. :)

It is very easy to troubleshoot these probes on the ground. Unscrew it and immerse in a heated liquid. Wiggle all wires and tap probe.

The GRT EIS probes are pretty lame. I spent the first few months of flying trying to make better connections to get the darned thing from dancing around so much.

Finally, I just ordered a new probe (I think it was about $45) and threw the old one away.

It works perfectly now.

If you have the bayonet probes you can just screw the woile clamp up the sprng and it will tighten the seating inside the cylinder. I fixed two erratic readings dong this.
