A few questions for those of you who have installed a pair of ?ER? tanks from Safeair. I?m doing the same in my -8 and at the point of fabricating access doors in my tips for fueling.
1. Any suggestion to how large the doors need to be?
2. Should they be centered over the ER tank fuel cap or offset in some direction for easier access by a typical refueling nozzle?
3. What hinge method did you use? I want to use hidden hinges and am considering using the ones from nonstopaviation that I?ve seen used on the oil access door, but don?t know that there?s enough room between the top of the tank and the inside surface of the tip, or if the hinge can be installed to accommodate the slightly contoured surface of the door.
Suggestions and photos or things you would have done differently would be greatly appreciated.
