I am curious as to what the purpose of the epoxy flox mix. is on the wingtip extensions? Reinforcement? If the part fits well, must his still be done?

Tip Light Reinforcement

There is a space that has to be reinforced because you will be drilling and installing rivets through it. Otherwise the fiberglass will collapse and look pretty bad.

The wingtip nav/strobe lights are part of the optional RV-12 Lighting Kit. The kit is designed to be installed during or after construction.

Proseal

I can understand the epoxy, but still have trouble understanding the purpose of the proseal under the lower flange of the extensions.

If the purpose is to seal the housing, then why not also seal the upper flange.

Anyway, I will still finish the installation as shown on the plans.
